Plaice Bangladeshi

Cook in a large frying pan

2 tbsp soya or sunflower oil

Heat the oil

1 tsp white poppy seeds

1 tsp Bengali 5 spice seeds

Stir fry the whole spices for 10 seconds

1 tsp dijon mustard

1/3 tsp turmeric

1 green chilli, finely chopped

Add the spices and continue stirring for 30 seconds

2-4 garlic cloves, chopped

75g spring onions (leaves & bulbs), chopped

Stir fry the garlic and spring onions for a couple more minutes

200 ml water

Add the water and bring to the boil

2 x 200g plaice fillets

Add the fish and simmer gently for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally

1 tbsp desiccated coconut

2 tbsp coconut milk powder

1 tbsp mango pickle, finely chopped

1 tbsp corriander leaves, chopped

Salt to taste

Add and bring back to a simmer and stir for at least 5 minutes until the fish is cooked. Add salt to taste and serve.
