Spiced apple crumble |
Make the crumble | |
120g plain or wholewheat flour ½ tsp baking powder |
Sprinkle the baking powder over the flour |
40g butter |
Cut into small pieces and and lightly rub in to form a crumbly texture |
75g soft brown sugar |
Mix in well |
Pre-cook the apples | |
450g cooking apples peeled and sliced 15g brown sugar 1/8 tsp ground cloves 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 40g raisins 1 tbsp water |
Sprinkle with the water and cook gently until the apples are soft. Taste and adjust the sugar and spices if required. |
Assemble the pie and bake in the oven | |

Pour the cooked apples into a pie dish |
Above crumble mixture |
Sprinkle the crumble over the apples and spread out lightly with a fork. Bake in the oven at 180° C for 30 to 40 mins until the crumble is nice and crunchy. |
