Spiced apple crumble

Make the crumble

120g plain or wholewheat flour

½ tsp baking powder

Sprinkle the baking powder over the flour

40g butter

Cut into small pieces and and lightly rub in to form a crumbly texture

75g soft brown sugar

Mix in well
Pre-cook the apples

450g cooking apples peeled and sliced

15g brown sugar

1/8 tsp ground cloves

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

40g raisins

1 tbsp water

Sprinkle with the water and cook gently until the apples are soft. Taste and adjust the sugar and spices if required.
Assemble the pie and bake in the oven

Above cooked apples

Pour the cooked apples into a pie dish

Above crumble mixture

Sprinkle the crumble over the apples and spread out lightly with a fork. Bake in the oven at 180° C for 30 to 40 mins until the crumble is nice and crunchy.
